Nassau County police officer hit by car and taken to hospital


LAWRENCE, NY - A nassau county police officer was struck by a car and rushed to Nassau University Medical Center.  A spokesman says the accident happened on the Nassau Expressway in Lawrence on Tuesday at about 11:30am.

The Unidentified officer was struck just north of the Atlantic Beach Bridge.  There was no immediate information on the officer's condition.

Police said it was not known if the driver stopped after the accident.

The expressway was closed in both directions.
