Bethpage school officials to monitor air

In response to continued concerns from area residents a new report claims the Air quality in Bethpage High School, which is next to a toxic waste site, is within state standards for chemical contaminants....but researchers recommend continued testing.
Recent sampling found chemicals present in soil under the school that can affect the central nervous system and may cause cancer.  The report claims that plastic sheeting installed as part of an asbestos treatment is keeping the air quality under control.
Here's the primary question Bethpage residents have: "What about the areas around the school that do not have plastic sheeting installed?"
The toxic plume is a major problem for Long Island.  Water supplies are being threatened, air quality is diminishing and people are getting sick.
Could this be the next Chernobyl?
